How to Be Your Own Favorite Person
Make peace with your eyebrows. Wear flannel year round. Take your nipples in public. Wash your face and just go. Grind your feet in the sandbox. Run barefoot down driveways. Clip roses in your nightgown. Let the neighbors watch.
Anoint your third eye with dew drops. Laugh loudly and often. Thank strangers for breathing. Kiss dogs with your eyes closed. Drink tea every hour. Dance boldly in daylight. Quit your job to write poetry. Read stories to babies.
Learn to talk with the flowers. Leave gifts for the crows. Ask bees for the answer. Never text back. Sniff necks if they’re offered. Be still twice a day. Hold songs in your sternum. Release tears when you’re ready.
Stand sure when you’re questioned. Feel small and still worthy. Eat cake without worry. Love without hesitation. Move toward the emotion. Forgive others’ failings. Remember you’re stardust. Believe you are magic.
